Installation Guide

Please read our Installation Guide:

Due to the natural variations in raw materials used during the manufacturing process, slight differences in colour and surface texture may occur between boards. This variation enhances the deck’s natural, timber-like appearance and is considered a feature, not a defect.

To ensure optimal performance and alignment, it is essential to acclimatise the decking boards on-site for a minimum of 48 hours prior to installation. Boards should be laid out on the deck frame to allow them to adjust to the local temperature. This step helps achieve accurate board lengths at the time of installation and mitigates issues related to thermal movement.

WPC decking is subject to linear expansion and contraction of approximately 1–1.5% of the board’s length, depending on temperature fluctuations. For boards exceeding 5.4 metres, expansion of up to 8mm may occur under extreme conditions. To minimise visible gaps and ensure a professional finish, we strongly recommend installing boards early in the morning during cooler conditions. Installing in direct sunlight or during peak heat may result in excessive gapping as the boards cool and contract.

For deck designs requiring butt joints on spans greater than 5.4m, the use of breaker boards is advised. This helps prevent uneven or misaligned joints across the deck surface. For example, a 7.5m deck should be divided into three equal 2.5m sections, separated by breaker boards. If you plan to butt-join a 5.4m board, ensure a 7mm expansion gap is maintained at an ambient temperature of 20°C.

Please refer to the spacing specifications provided at the end of this document for full installation guidance.

Please ensure you read and follow all installation steps and guidelines provided in this document to maximise the performance and longevity of your WPC deck. If you are uncertain about any aspect of the installation process or the information outlined, we strongly recommend contacting your supplier for clarification prior to installation.

Recommend maximum joint spacing centre to centre for boards laid at 90 degree

(for other angles take 100mm off these distances), please check below.
